Tottenham fans hit out at Son footage after Aston Villa loss – ‘Pathetic’
Son Heung-min has disappointed for Tottenham this season, and his performance against Aston Villa was no different.
Ange Postecoglou’s side suffered their 21st Premier League defeat of the season as they lost 2-0 at Villa Park on Friday (16 May), and, as has so often been the case this year, Son failed to make an impact.
During the 74 minutes he played, the Tottenham captain was lethargic on the wing.
Therefore, as the Lilywhites prepare to face Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday (21 May), supporters will be demanding more from their skipper.

Tottenham fans rage at Son’s performance v Aston Villa
Son’s appearance against Villa was just his second for Tottenham since the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt (10 April).
Spurs’ season has been plagued with injuries, and the skipper has been on the receiving end one too many times this year.
2024/25 | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes |

In fact, the injuries and inconsistent playing time have been identified as a reason for Son struggling to get back to his best form.
For the 32-year-old, and no doubt Postecoglou, it was important for him to get some minutes under his belt before the final, a point emphasised via Spurs’ official account on X (16 May). However, Tottenham supporters, still reeling from the defeat, were not impressed
Son will need a big performance in the final
The Europa League final is on the mind for all associated with Tottenham; Postecoglou has a chance for redemption, supporters can see their club lift a European trophy for the first time in years, and of course, unlimited bragging rights for all involved.
After a disappointing season in the Premier League, Son will have the chance to not only redeem himself in the eyes of supporters but also further cement himself as a Tottenham legend.
Spurs fans have a lot to thank Son for over the years, while many departed the club in hopes of securing silverware, including Harry Kane, the South Korean stayed, wanting to bring a trophy back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As a true legend and representative of the club, supporters old and new will be hoping that Son puts on a performance of a lifetime against Man United.
