Tottenham fans go wild as Levy meeting image with ‘No 1 manager target’ goes viral

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been deprived of much to cheer about this season, but one image of Daniel Levy could be about to change things entirely.

Ange Postecoglou looks to be hanging on by a Europa League-spiced thread with his side in a lowly 14th position in the Premier League, faltering in the domestic cups and with fan unrest at a considerable high.

Much of the supporter hostility came to a boil after Sunday’s (16 March) loss at Fulham where Postecoglou was seen arguing with individuals among the travelling crowd.

However, an image which surfaced on social media from Tuesday afternoon has stirred delirium across much of the Spurs supporter-base.

Levy spotted with Mauricio Pochettino – fans ‘on their knees’

Tottenham fans are desperate for the return of the days when they were competitive for the top honours, namely a few years ago in the late 2010s, when current USMNT leader Pochettino was at the helm.

Reaching the Champions League final and participating in a Premier League title race under the Argentine – a far cry from their current prospects under Postecoglou – have had Spurs fans reminiscing on the “good days”, even if they didn’t quite yield silverware.

It seemed a case of ‘when’ they would win a major trophy rather than ‘if’ under Pochettino, who was dismissed by Levy five months after the European final defeat to Liverpool in Madrid in 2019.

With Pochettino refusing to rule out a return to Tottenham one day, some Spurs fans’ excitement has now reached new levels online after the former boss and Levy were pictured together in North London, as shared on X by Steve Singh (18 March).

Limes Cafe in Hadley Wood hosted the pair in what has to be a more recent image than the rumoured time of 2021, due to the fact the cafe was only recently opened.

Other fans were reluctant to get too excited or were indifferent towards a return for the US coach whose side take on Panama in Los Angeles on Thursday night (20 March).

Several instead mocked Levy for his reputation for tightness, based on perceptions of his style of ownership and controversial priorities as Tottenham chairman.

Pochettino among favourites for Tottenham job

Pochettino may have seen his tenure at Tottenham peter out under the stewardship and funding of Levy, but he is still remembered fondly by many at Spurs for the sheer memories.

It’s a lot rosier than the current climate in N17, which if the Europa League isn’t won will only inevitably become more vitriolic.

Pochettino, 53, is currently second-favourite with BetVictor to succeed Postecoglou when the Australian does leave, at odds of 7/2 behind market leader Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth at 2/1.

Levy is capable of many things, and a weight of anticipation could be on his shoulders this summer.
