Tottenham fans fuming at what Dejan Kulusevski did v Liverpool — ‘Abysmal’, ‘Disasterclass’

Tottenham fans were fuming at Dejan Kulusevski as they lost 4-0 to Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield.

The Sweden international started for the North London outfit as they faced the Reds on Thursday (6 February).

Spurs had a 1-0 lead from the first leg but failed to capitalise on it and have lost the chance of lifting the domestic title at Wembley.

Cody Gakpo gave Arne Slot’s team the lead in the 34th minute, Mohamed Salah scored a penalty just after the break, Dominik Szoboszlai added a third and Virgil van Dijk sealed the victory for the Merseysiders.

Dejan Kulusevski ‘Abysmal’ against Liverpool

The Lilywhites faithful made their feelings known about Kulusevski and didn’t hold back.

One user on X called the 24-year-old’s performance a “disasterclass” while another termed his display “abysmal”.

While the forward had been one of Spurs’ best players at the start of the season, he has struggled for form as of late.

Supporters have complained about the Tottenham star looking lethargic, as was deemed to be the case against Liverpool.

Kulusevski had an xG of 0.06, xA of 0.02, 20 per cent successful dribbling accuracy, and won just two of his 12 duels, as per FotMob.

Tottenham fail to make Carabao Cup final

The North London outfit’s fans will be disappointed not to go through to the final and have an opportunity to end the 17-year trophy drought.

Ange Postecoglou has struggled to bring the best out of Spurs in recent weeks, leading to questions about his future.

The loss against the Reds will likely not help the conversations around the Australian manager’s suitability to manage the Lilywhites.

Postecoglou could be excused for the poor over the last month due to the injury issues at the back, but winter signing Kevin Danso was in the starting lineup at Anfield.

The former Celtic boss was able to rely on arguably his best midfield trio of Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

Richarlison had to go off with another fitness issue, but the Australian head coach now has Mathys Tel at his disposal, who made his debut in the loss.

Liverpool will now face Newcastle United in the final of the Carabao Cup on 16 March, while Postecoglou may have just moved closer to the sack at Tottenham.
