Tottenham fans explode at ‘revolting’ Sol Campbell advert – ‘Utterly ridiculous’
Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media to rage at Sol Campbell after his latest wind-up antics were shared online.
Campbell is the leading figure of a new advertising campaign by Google for their new Pixel devices, part of which featured a video shared on their X page (14 January).
The former Spurs captain notoriously swapped White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur FC, 27 May 2001) for North London rivals Arsenal on a free transfer in 2001, in what remains one of the most controversial switches of a player of all-time.
The bitter arch-enemies do battle at the Emirates on Wednesday night (15 January), as Tottenham look to avenge the 1-0 defeat in N17 on 15 September.
Spurs fans were quick to lament Campbell, who swapped a white jumper for a red one during the ad, while hiding Lilywhite flowers and aiming other digs at his former club throughout the scripted video.

It’s fair to say Tottenham fans have not held back regarding their former hero – that was, at least, until his four-mile journey free of charge across North London to Highbury 24 years ago.
Many have accused Campbell of “attention seeking” after having previously asked his former fans to curb the abuse, while one referred to the ex-defender as “revolting”, another admitting their “blood was boiled” as the screw is turned ahead of the second North London derby of the season.
Another implied Campbell was desperate for money by starring in the high-profile ad, while one supporter posted an image of the former England international on some toilet roll to convey their thoughts.
