Pape Matar Sarr hailed after developments away from Tottenham – ‘Legend’
Pape Matar Sarr’s popularity among Tottenham supporters continues to grow.
Sarr has always been celebrated by fans, players, and managers alike for his exceptional work rate and positive attitude.
However, the 22-year-old is also supremely talented. Sarr was hugely influential in the UEFA Europa League final, assisting Brennan Johnson for the winner.
The midfielder, signed from Metz in August 2021, has made 104 appearances for Tottenham to date. He will be hoping to have a significant role under Thomas Frank, who will be as delighted as fans by his latest exploits.

Sarr donates thousands of pounds to help village in Senegal
Most Spurs players have returned to Hotspur Way to start pre-season training ahead of their first friendly fixture against Reading on Saturday (19 July).
The players were all on a well-earned break after a gruelling season, in which Sarr topped Pedro Porro in making 55 appearances across all competitions.
Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |
Pape Matar Sarr | 55 | 6 | 3 | 2,959′ |
Pedro Porro | 51 | 4 | 9 | 4,130′ |
Brennan Johnson | 51 | 18 | 7 | 3,316′ |
Dejan Kulusevski | 50 | 10 | 11 | 3,450′ |
However, instead of resting, Sarr decided to give back to his community in Senegal.
The Spurs star spent thousands of pounds to provide electricity, construction materials, and educational resources to his hometown of Fayako [The Sun].
As a result, the entire community of Fayako gathered to show their gratitude for Sarr. However, it wasn’t just those in his community who celebrated Sarr, with Spurs supporters taking to social media to praise the Senegal international.
Sarr could thrive under Frank
Sarr was already a trusted lieutenant under Ange Postecoglou, as evidenced by his appearance record. However, he was not always a starter, as he struggled to find a defined role.
His outstanding qualities are his inexhaustible energy and ability to drive with the ball, which was not always needed in games where Tottenham had the lion’s share of possession.
However, this could change under Frank. Those attributes will be crucial in every game in the Dane’s system, which focuses on quicker and more direct attacks.
Frank appreciates gifted ball-carriers and is also renowned for developing young talent, which could well see Sarr thrive even more under his new manager.
