Johan Lange causes outrage with latest Tottenham appearance: ‘Utter disgrace’, ‘Sack him’
Tottenham endured a quiet winter transfer window when it came to new signings.
Six new signings joined Tottenham in the winter window, however, apart from Conor Gallagher, all of them are teenagers who will mostly head for the academy rather than the first-team to start with.
As such, Thomas Frank hasn’t been given much to work with when it comes to reinforcements, as he continues to fight for his Tottenham job.
In fact, some have even accused Tottenham chiefs of throwing Frank under the bus in this regard, as in the eyes of many Spurs fans, his team hasn’t really come out the window notably stronger than when it began.

Johan Lange speaks on Tottenham’s winter window
Tottenham captain Cristian Romero blasted the board following Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Man City on Sunday too, with the defender making the point that there was only 11 fit senior players for the match.
His frustrations have been echoed by Spurs fans, with squad depth looking set to be a continuous issue for Frank’s side over the remainder of the season.
Of course, this could’ve been addressed and solved had Tottenham been more active in the transfer market, with a clear emphasis on signing players for the future rather than the present a dangerous strategy given their situation.
However, speaking in an interview via Tottenham’s official YouTube channel, Spurs’ technical director Johan Lange attempted to explain the reasoning behind the lack of signings this winter.
Overall, Lange felt as though Tottenham made the right decision not so sign players for the sake of doing so, and preached the importance of staying disciplined as well as citing the fact that they should be getting players back from injury soon.
“It is important as a club to remain disciplined and make sure to do our best, our ability only to sign players that can generally help the team now or in the future,” Lange said.
“First, a lot of our injured players, they will return in this season here, hopefully a number of them quite shortly.

“There are also some limitations to how many players you can have in a squad to register them, but even though that our financial situation under the rules are better than most clubs, and we have owners who are very willing to invest, it is important that we are under those rules.
“So, it is important that we sign the right players. I think also Thomas has been quite clear on two players we wanted to bring in, but it wasn’t a lack of willingness for the club to make the investment to support the team.”
Tottenham fans aren’t buying what Lange is saying
It would be untrue to say Lange doesn’t raise some reasonable points from his interview, as signing players for the sake of doing so is always a dangerous game to play.
And, it is also true that players such as Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison should be returning to the squad over the next few weeks or so.
However, signing just one player above the age of 19 in Gallagher does seem a strange decision, and understandably so, many Spurs fans are far from happy with their team’s winter business and what Lange has said.
“You’re trolling us at this point.. when his picture popped up I thought you’d be announcing his sacking!!” said one Spurs fan.
“Probably could have skipped this one, lads,” said another disgruntled Tottenham fan.
