‘Daniel Levy next’ after Tottenham boardroom exit leads to possible ‘civil war’

Tottenham fans are split over who is to blame for the disaster of a Premier League season just gone.

Some fans point at the board and Daniel Levy, others blame the stubbornness of Ange Postecoglou, while others believe the playing squad should be performing far better.

Nevertheless, the Europa League victory has been followed by changes in the boardroom, and Spurs fans are delighted at the news.

Tottenham fans celebrate as board member stands down

Earlier on Monday (2 June), it was announced that Donna Cullen will step down from the Tottenham board.

Cullen had been a board member since 2006, and had been considered the right-hand woman of Chairman Levy.

A lot of supporters blame Levy for the lack of success at Tottenham over the last decades, with his transfer spending a bone of contention.

So, naturally, many were delighted to hear of Cullen’s departure.

The fan reaction to the news on X was almost unanimously positive, with several saying that Levy could be next to leave in what could be a huge summer of change.

The departure comes just days after the opening of the summer transfer window, where Spurs are expected to be conducting a lot of business.

One fan questioned whether the announcement was sparked by a “civil war” in the Spurs boardroom, although there is no evidence of a rift between Cullen and Levy.

Either way, Cullen’s exit is expected to be the first of several changes occurring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Several changes needed to turn around Tottenham’s fortunes

It’s set to be an exciting summer for Tottenham, if only thanks to their back-door qualification for the Champions League as Europa League winners.

The result means they should have more funds available to boost their squad, ready for the 2025-26 season.

It should also be easier to attract big-name players to North London with the lure of Champions League football.

The Spurs hierarchy will be thanking their lucky stars that they won the Europa League because their squad needs a serious overhaul. Tottenham’s 17th-place finish in the Premier League provides enough evidence of that.

Levy has never been too excited to open his purse-strings, but Champions League qualification should provide the perfect excuse for Spurs to spend big in the summer.

They’ve already been linked with Leroy Sane, and will need several players of a similar calibre to compete admirably in Europe and the Premier League next season.
