Tottenham urged to sell Micky van de Ven after crushing injury news

Ange Postecoglou has hardly been able to call on Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven this term.

The Dutchman has featured just twice for Spurs since suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday 30 October.

Postecoglou was accused of rushing van de Ven back as the centre-back started in the 3-0 UEFA Europa League victory over IF Elfsborg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday 30 January.

Van de Ven has since missed matches against Brentford, Liverpool and Aston Villa as fears emerge that the Tottenham defender could require surgery.

And after the most recent injury update on the 23-year-old [The Daily Mail], those fears are only likely to continue to grow.

Tottenham told to sell Micky van de Ven

Sami Mokbel wrote via the Daily Mail on Thursday (13 February), that van de Ven is expected to miss out once again when Postecoglou’s side welcome Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (16 February).

Therefore, fans are understandably frustrated, with some calling for the club to provide more clarity on the situation, while others have suggested that Spurs might sadly need to cash in on van de Ven in the summer.

Micky van de Ven to leave Tottenham this summer?

Van de Ven has impressed since joining Tottenham, with suggestions that the club could accept an offer from the defender from Real Madrid. However, it appears as though fans are beginning to run out of patience with his constant injury issues.

Therefore, if a club like Real Madrid were to come in with a big-money offer, it seems as though a lot of the Spurs faithful would gladly accept that offer.

However, because the former Wolfsburg man can’t stay fit, finding a buyer could prove difficult.

If van de Ven continues to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines, it is hard to see a club coming in with a big-money offer and taking an incredible risk.

Therefore, it looks as though Tottenham are left in a difficult position.
