Tottenham ‘transfer business finished’ after Ange Postecoglou admission

Ange Postecoglou appears to have all but confirmed that Tottenham will not be making any more signings in the winter transfer window.

Despite a serious injury crisis in North London, Spurs have so far only signed Antonín Kinský in the winter transfer window – a deal which saw Daniel Levy get involved personally.

However, it looks as though the Spurs chairman won’t be signing any more players for Postecoglou before 3 February, which will come as a huge blow to the under-fire Australian.

After Spurs’ 3-2 UEFA Europa League win over Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Thursday 23 January, Postecoglou said [via The Spurs Watch, 23 January], “We are a Premier League outfit playing in an away game in Europe and we had five teenagers out there.

“It is pretty much unheard of in an important game, not a dead rubber. I could not speak highly enough of the players carrying us through. They will get some help hopefully soon with some players coming back.”

Daniel Levy blasted after Ange Postecoglou admission at Tottenham

While Postecoglou might simply be trying to downplay any potential incoming transfers, a lot of fans aren’t convinced.

The Australian’s claim that Spurs’ teenagers will be helped by players coming “back” rather than players coming in hasn’t gone down well among fans, who seem to believe that this is a sign that the club’s winter transfer business is finished.

If Spurs don’t sign any new players before the transfer window closes, that is simply inexcusable.

Postecoglou is crying out for help, and Spurs certainly have enough money to make signings. Therefore, if no new players are brought in, it is going to be difficult for Levy to explain his way out of that one.
