Ex-Spurs Scout: Tottenham striker Richarlison will have a point to prove
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent six years as a senior scout at Spurs and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent eight years on Everton’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King insists Richarlison will have a point to prove when Tottenham host Everton after the Brazillian was “crucified” during his time on Merseyside.
Spurs’ number nine is finally finding his feet and some form after a difficult year and a half in north London so far.
Having netted a brace during Tottenham’s 4-1 win over Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 10 December, the striker followed this up by opening the scoring in the club’s 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Friday 15 December.

This positive form has drawn praise from his manager Ange Postecoglou, who described him as a “monster” after his performance in the Midlands.
“Richarlison is a goalmouth monster. I’m really pleased with him in training and I was confident that he could go out there and do a job for us,” (The Mirror, 16 December).
“Richy has been good again tonight, not an easy game we weren’t going to get a lot of space and his impact is in the box, it was a great ball and that’s what Richy is really good at. He’s in a better space physically and mentally.”

Next up for Tottenham is the visit of Richarlison’s former side Everton on Saturday 23 December, and ex-Spurs scout King has told Tottenham News that the striker will have a point to prove against his old employers.
“Richarlison was sacrificed at the end, but he got himself on the scoresheet again with a great header. The goalkeeper Matt Turner could have done better looking at where the ball was crossed from, he did allow his defenders to come too deep, which allowed Richarlison to come deep with them,” he said.
“Nonetheless it was a good header which keeps his goalscoring streak going, although I do think there were periods of the game where he looked quite ineffective.

“It will be interesting to see how he plays against Everton because he was really crucified up there, people didn’t like him at all. I am not quite sure how they got the money that they did for him.
“Overall though, it is three goals in two games, two against Newcastle and he seems to have finally found some form. Let’s see what he does against Everton now.”
In other Tottenham news, King has detailed five things he learned from Spurs’ win against Forest.
