‘Yves Bissouma will be left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad’ after Hotspur Way news

Tottenham may have already made a telling decision on Yves Bissouma ahead of their Champions League campaign.

West Ham were tipped to move for the Spurs midfielder late in the transfer window as he was heavily linked with a move out of North London.

Indeed, Bissouma reportedly agreed personal terms with Galatasaray ahead of deadline day, but that move has yet to come to fruition.

Now, the Mali international could be left out of Thomas Frank’s Champions League squad thanks to Xavi Simons.

No room for Yves Bissouma in Spurs’ Champions League squad

Simons may slot straight into Frank’s starting lineup, having arrived from RB Leipzig for a reported £52million.

Tottenham had to submit their Champions League squad list for the group stage by the deadline on 2 September.

Although that is yet to be announced, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Bissouma will not be included.

He said: “When you add the signing of Simons, who will take up one of our non-homegrown player spots in the Champions League?

I don’t see Bissouma even being registered in the squad for the Champions League. We don’t have the numbers to do it.

“So some people are going to have to be left out. I think Bissouma is the next one that would be left out.”

Why Yves Bissouma could leave Tottenham soon

Although the British transfer deadlines have now passed, there are still several avenues open for the 29-year-old.

Bissouma was reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League, but that can no longer happen until January.

However, a move to Turkey still seems like the most likely move for the midfielder as the window will remain open until 12 September.

Another option that could open is a move to Greece, as the window is also open until the same date.

As it stands, Bissouma is a Tottenham player, but there is every chance he could leave over the next week or so.
