Yves Bissouma ‘to be sold by Tottenham this summer’ after contract development

Yves Bissouma could be forced out of Tottenham thanks to a contract development involving one of his teammates.

Bissouma has been in and out of the Spurs team this season, starting just 12 matches in the Premier League.

Therefore, it seems as though Ange Postecoglou isn’t the midfielder’s biggest fan, while Tottenham supporters have also seemingly had enough of the Mali international.

Daniel Levy is thought to be willing to accept a multi-million loss on Bissouma, and recent contract news suggests the 28-year-old’s days at Tottenham are now numbered.

Rodrigo Bentancur in contract talks with Tottenham

As reported by Sami Mokbel via the Daily Mail (25 February), Tottenham have opened contract talks with Rodrigo Bentancur, with the midfielder’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

Bissouma is also out of contract in 2026. Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects the Spurs ace to be moved on should Bentancur extend his stay.

“A decision needs to be made on Bissouma and Bentancur,” Wenham said,

“I believe one of those players needs to renew their contract, and the other needs to be sold. Of the two, I’d rather Spurs kept hold of Bentancur. I think he is the better of the two players and has a far higher ceiling.

“If he can get back to his previous levels, we have an exceptional midfielder on our hands. If he does sign a new contract, Bissouma will be sold.

“I don’t think Bissouma has done enough during his time at Tottenham to earn a new contract at the club. Therefore, I’d be happy for him to go, especially with the emergence of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.”

Bentancur should outlast Bissouma at Tottenham

It would be difficult to find a Spurs fan who would prefer Bissouma to remain at the club instead of Bentancur. As a result, agreeing a new contract with the latter should be a priority.

Bentancur has proven he is a better player than Bissouma, with his stay in North London only disrupted by serious injuries.

Meanwhile, Bissouma has shown too much inconsistency, while off-field issues have also plagued his stay. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him sold.

However, what remains to be seen is how much Spurs can sell Bissouma for.
