Yves Bissouma blasted by Tottenham insider as Ange Postecoglou uses one word to describe midfielder
John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose has called for Tottenham ace Yves Bissouma to demonstrate consistency after Ange Postecoglou praised his “outstanding” display against West Ham.
It has been a turbulent few weeks for Bissouma, which started with the midfielder being snubbed by Mali during the March international break, a decision which left him furious.
He was then blasted for his mistake as Spurs conceded after a matter of minutes in their 2-1 victory over Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (30 March).
However, he was much-improved during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium on Tuesday (2 April), with his manager Postecoglou praising his “outstanding” display while speaking after the match (via Football London, 2 April).
And Wenham has called for the 27-year-old to build on that performance.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “For Bissouma’s sake he just needs to focus on getting back to his best because his form has gone off a cliff ever since his red card against Luton back in October.
“He needs to rediscover the levels he showed at Brighton because if he can get back to those levels it would go a long way in helping us to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
“If he can do that, I am sure the Mali stuff will sort itself, he just needs to perform consistently again because he has been poor the past couple of months.”
Yves Bissouma must prove his worth to Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
At the beginning of the season, it looked as if Bissouma had finally found his feet in North London.
After a tricky start to life at Spurs following his arrival from Brighton, the Mali midfielder looked back to his best during the early stages of the 2023/24 season, and it appeared that Postecoglou was getting the best out of him.
However, Bissouma has struggled in recent months, with his inconsistency often frustrating Spurs supporters.
While he has shown brilliance at times, he has also made sloppy mistakes which could cost Spurs a place in the UEFA Champions League if they continue.

Postecoglou will have some decisions to make in midfield this summer, and Bissouma must ensure he is part of the Australian’s plans.
