Yang Min-hyeok to make Tottenham debut v Tamworth on Sunday

Ange Postecoglou will have the opportunity to hand a host of fringe players minutes when Tottenham take on Tamworth on Sunday.

Spurs will travel to the Lamb Ground in the third round of the FA Cup on 12 January, with Postecoglou expected to make a host of changes.

Yang was part of a Spurs squad for the first time on Wednesday (8 January) as Postecoglou’s side secured a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, with one player spotted in a bizarre incident at full time.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has speculated that the 18-year-old could make his full debut against Tamworth.

“Mikey Moore and Yang were both involved against Liverpool,” Wenham said.

“Personally, I think Yang will come on as a substitute against Tamworth. I don’t think he will start, as I think Brennan Johnson needs the minutes. However, I do think Yang will come on.

“That gives us more options in the squad, and then hopefully we will have Richarlison available for selection again not too long after.”

Spurs supporters will no doubt be excited to catch a glimpse of Yang.

The match against Tamworth should be a foregone conclusion in reality, which should allow Yang to make his debut in a low-pressure environment. However, Postecoglou remains under pressure in North London.

Therefore, the Australian won’t want to take too many risks, and might only choose to hand an 18-year-old his debut in English football if Spurs are already a few goals to the good, as many would expect them to be.
