Yang Min-hyeok surprise claim shared as Tottenham announce exit

Tottenham’s decision to loan Yang Min-Hyeok to Portsmouth has produced mixed reactions.

Yang impressed at Tottenham during pre-season despite his limited game time.

This was best demonstrated during his cameo against Newcastle United, where he showed a real desire to advance the ball.

However, it seems that the Lilywhites have decided that it is best he develops away from Hotspur Way next season. But it appears not everyone is on board with their choice.

Portsmouth loan ‘surprising’ after QPR success

The South Korean was loaned to QPR for the second half of last season, where he enjoyed frequent game time.

In 14 appearances, Yang netted twice and provided one assist while accumulating around 700 minutes. The promising youngster really honed his craft during the loan spell and was beloved by most fans.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is surprised that Yang has not returned to QPR for the forthcoming season

“I was a bit surprised that he didn’t go back to QPR,” Wenham said.

“I’ve mentioned that before, I thought that would be a kind of certainty, because he played a lot there, and had a lot of opportunities. So I was surprised that he didn’t carry on.

“However, this is another good opportunity for him, and he just needs more minutes and time to settle into English culture and the style of football. I think that’ll be beneficial for him.”

Yang could succeed at Tottenham

While he is still raw, Yang has enough natural talent at his disposal to succeed at Tottenham.

His directness is something that Spurs have missed on the right wing these last couple of years. There is no doubt that Mohammed Kudus’ arrival will help breathe life into the right-hand side once again.

However, this does not mean that there will not be a place for Yang once he returns to the fold. Indeed, Kudus can play in the midfield as well as a centre-forward, which injuries and tactical tweaks may see him doing more frequently.

As a result, Tottenham fans could see a lot more of Yang over the next couple of years. Given his desire to excel in North London, it is certain that the young forward will want to see this too.
