Wrexham tipped to sign Dane Scarlett after Tottenham loan development
Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett is once again on the lookout for a new club to join on loan.
Several of Spurs’ youngsters have left on loan this season – with 19-year-old centre-back Alife Dorrington the latest to make a temporary move away from North London.
However, not every player has experienced success away from the club, with Scarlett recently recalled from his season-long loan spell with Oxford United due to a lack of game time – a decision which Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham described as a “risk.”
As reported by Alasdair Gold via X (20 January), Scarlett is expected to be sent out on loan once again before the winter transfer window shuts, and ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has mooted Wrexham as a potential destination.
“He was moved to a Championship side, and they had a management change,” King said.
“Des Buckingham, who brought Scarlett to Oxford United, was sacked, and Gary Rowett was brought in, and he obviously didn’t fancy the striker. Therefore, Scarlett needs to go to another Championship club if he is going to improve. He needs playing time.
“I would say it would be a move to a Championship club. However, perhaps a team near the top of League One could take a look at him – Wrexham could use a striker.”
Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett to join Wrexham?
Wrexham are currently third in League One and fighting for promotion to the Championship. As reported by the Wrexham Insider (19 January) the Welsh club are on the lookout for a new striker.
Therefore, a move for Scarlett could make a lot of sense. Aston Villa’s Louie Barry recently made an impact in League One on loan at Stockport County.
As a result, perhaps a move to a high-flying League One club would be the perfect way for Scarlett to finally demonstrate to everyone connected with Spurs what he is capable of. Ange Postecoglou will no doubt be keen to give Scarlett a chance, especially after a recent injury blow to Dominic Solanke.

However, the 20-year-old has not yet proved that he is ready for first-team football in North London. Therefore, this next loan spell needs to go well for the forward.
