Paul Robinson: Jan Oblak can be perfect replacement for Hugo Lloris at Tottenham
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Paul Robinson believes that Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak would be a “top-class” player for Tottenham as they look to replace Hugo Lloris.
Speaking to French newspaper Nice-Martin on 2 June, Lloris expressed his desire for “other things” as Spurs look to target a new number one.
The former Spurs keeper did shower praise on the Frenchman, admitting he has been a fantastic servant for the club ahead of his expected summer exit.

The Evening Standard reported on 20 January that Oblak was on Tottenham’s radar, however, it seems the club have yet to follow up on their initial interest.
“I think they’ll target and strengthen in that area. There’s one keeper that I’ve had my eye on for a while; Jan Oblak at Atletico Madrid,” Robinson exclusively told Tottenham Hotspur News.
“I can’t understand why not many Premier League teams are linked with him over the years. You look at the way they defend over the years in La Liga. I think he’s a top-class goalkeeper.

“Lloris has been a fantastic servant for Tottenham and it’s up to him – his drive and his ambition – with how long he wants to carry on.
“Yes, errors have crept into his game and his forms not be where it should be, but you cannot take away what he’s done for that club. He’s been absolutely fantastic.”
In other Tottenham news, the North London outfit can help sort out their defensive issues with the summer signature of one Premier League centre-back.
