Paul Robinson has insisted it makes no business sense for Tottenham to allow Harry Kane to run into the last year of his contract at the club.
The former Spurs goalkeeper admitted that his contract situation may make it hard for the club to pull in £100million for his services should he leave.
A resolution has been predicted by the start of the pre-season schedule, with either a new contract or a move away looking like the only two possible outcomes.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson can’t see the chairman allowing the striker to leave for free.
“From a business point of view, I can’t see Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspur letting someone like Harry Kane move into the last year of his contract. It just makes no business sense whatsoever,” he said.
“From a business point of view. In the same way as West Ham and Declan Rice, it makes no sense to allow Kane to run into the last year of his contract or lost him on a free.“
“For either party, I can’t see Kane rolling into the last year of his contract. There will be some kind of resolution before the pre-season starts.
“I don’t think we will be heading into pre-season – after the one where he said he wanted to leave and all the uncertainty – I think it will be a pre-season of certainty, he’s either going to be there or he’s not. If he’s there, I think he will be there for the long haul.
“Whether they can get, £50, £60, or £70million now or whatever they’re going to get for him, they are not going to going to get £100milllion plus like they could have done previously cause he’s in the last year of his contract.”
