Paul Robinson: European absence could benefit Tottenham with reset needed
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Paul Robinson believes that missing out on European football completely next season will not be a bad thing for Tottenham.
Despite dismantling Leeds 4-1 on the last day of the Premier League campaign, Spurs missed out on Conference League qualification after Aston Villa’s win over Brighton.
The former Spurs goalkeeper believes it gives the chance for a reset, with a new manager and players set to be brought in over the summer period.

“Next year, a year out of Europe, I don’t think will be a bad thing for them,” Robinson exclusively told Tottenham Hotspur News.
“I think it’s a blow not having European football as a whole. But as a rebuild and a reset, it might not be a bad thing.
“The Thursday-Sunday is not ideal and the Conference League is looked upon differently although West Ham have had a fantastic season. They’ve got the opportunity to win the Conference League and then a Europa League place next season. And a pot in the cabinet, which most Spurs fans would take.

“I think with the managerial appointment and the squad rebuild, the reset button needs to be pressed. As much as I do think the club should have aspirations of being in Europe on the flip side of that, it might not be too damaging.”
In other Tottenham news, the North London outfit can help sort out their defensive issues with the summer signature of one Premier League centre-back.
