Paul Robinson: David Raya can handle Tottenham pressure if signed
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Paul Robinson believes that Brentford goalkeeper David Raya is ready for a move to Tottenham if they can get a deal over the line in the window.
It’s believed conversations are still ongoing to reduce the Bees’ £40million price, as talkSPORT also shared on 12 June that Raya is pushing for a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The former Spurs goalkeeper, however, did admit that the club would need to sign another stopper on top of Raya, who is yet to be tested at the top level.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham Hotspur News, Robinson said: “He’s yet to be tested at the top level. He’s had a good season at Brentford. I’ve known him since he was a young lad. He’s a great shot-stopper. A great character and a good lad.
“He’s had an excellent two seasons with Brentford. I think now the test now is to do it over a long period of time. With a big transfer fee comes expectation.
“He’s ready for the step up but I think they’ll have to sign another keep alongside him.

“I know he’s not young anymore but for somebody like that to take on that level of responsibility and expectation for a full season – it’s a big ask.
“I think if you’re going to sign a goalkeeper of that ilk you need a good number two/number one alongside him.
“Fraser Forster has done extremely well this year but the goalkeeping position is an area of concern for Tottenham. They need to bring in two this summer.”
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou’s arrival may benefit one young full-back.
