Paul Robinson: Ange Postecoglou long-term Tottenham vision must wait, results must come first
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Paul Robinson has insisted that results must come first for Ange Postecoglou after his appointment as Tottenham manager was confirmed.
The former Spurs goalkeeper admitted that a long-term project is what everybody wants, but the manager has to get it right on the pitch to get that time in charge.
Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are said to be “win-now” managers by Robinson, with Postecoglou also having one eye on the future of the club.

Former Spurs keeper Paul Robinson feels Postecoglou will need results immediately to avoid calls for his dismissal to emerge.
“A long-term project is what everybody wants but managers don’t get time. You look at the lifespan of a Premier League manager these days. It’s 18 months if you’re lucky,” he exclusively told Tottenham Hotspur News.
“Results on the pitch are what matter. Yes, he’s a process manager. Spurs have gone for win-now managers. Conte and Mourinho. They’re winning now managers with a huge budget and a chairman who lets them do what they want.
“Postecoglou is great at working with the academy and bringing younger players through into the first team but if he’s in the bottom half after the first ten games, people aren’t going to be bothered about that.

“He’s got to get it right at the top end first. Get the players on the pitch right. He will buy himself time by getting results and getting the team to play in a certain way.
“Regardless of any owner saying it’s a long-term project, it’s not true. He wins football matches and then he’s there for the long haul.”
