‘Two Tottenham stars will battle it out to impress Thomas Frank after unfortunate latest’

Tottenham fans can expect to see several more combinations on the pitch before the season ends.

Thomas Frank has always been known as a manager unafraid to test new tactics and formations on the pitch, with his changes creating a positive start this season.

This was made clear during Spurs’ defeat to PSG on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup final, where he fielded a 5-3-2 formation.

More recently, he has stuck with a traditional 4-3-3 line-up as players continue to put their best foot forward for their new manager.

Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert to battle it out at Tottenham

Both Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert are two of their brightest young stars at Tottenham.

After a slow start to the season, Odobert has started on the left wing as of late.

Meanwhile, Tel bounced back after he was excluded from Frank’s UEFA Champions League squad and is a regular face in Spurs’ starting lineup.

It has been suggested that the striker would perform better on the left wing, and speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes this could become his best position.

“I certainly don’t see him as an out-and-out striker. So I think off the left will become his best position,” Wenham said.

“But at the minute, he’s seemingly battling for the opportunity to impress with Odobert for those minutes in the team. But unfortunately, for me, against Aston Villa, he didn’t do enough to say that he should be the one starting.

“I’m sure other opportunities will come and he just has to take them when they do arrive, because no one else is dominating, putting their hand up and saying, I must start the game.”

If neither Tel nor Odobert establishes themselves, Tottenham could upgrade the position in January.

Who should start on the left for Tottenham?

While deploying Tel on the left wing could improve his confidence, Frank needs to give Odobert more time to nail down the position.

Tel has a keen eye for goal, but Odobert is a relentless creative threat down the left side, not to mention that he is a natural left winger.

Consistency is key, and in this case, Odobert needs the necessary minutes to establish himself as Spurs’ starting left winger.
