Tottenham v Brighton injury news as expert issues Giovani Lo Celso update
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has a complicated injury and may not be back for the Brighton game, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Argentina international has hamstring and thigh concerns at the same time, which has made it a tricky recovery.
For the Brighton game on Saturday, 10 February, the 27-year-old may not be back in time if he’s not recovered
Discussing the state of play with Lo Celso exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Along with his thigh injury, he also has a hamstring injury so there is that additional fear it’s in a more complicated area such as nearer to the tendon.
“This means that the nerve involvement is significantly higher and can lead to multiple issues in the future.
“It’s imperative the club do not rush into bringing him back.
“Seems like they’re taking his fitness on a game by game basis which is the right thing to do so he may not be back for the next game if he has not recovered.“
Lo Celso the ideal backup option?
The 27-year-old may not be a regular starter whenever everyone is fit but offers Ange Postecoglou an important option in midfield.
This season, he’s made 10 league appearances and has scored two goals and provided two assists for Spurs, but has not featured since the FA Cup third-round win over Burnley on 5 January.
While he may have made just four starts, he’s had an impact on games even when he’s come off the bench.

His ability to play as a six, eight and 10, gives Postecoglou a Swiss Army knife on the bench as he can fill in for a host of players.
