Tottenham urged to re-sign Marcus Edwards as James Maddison claim emerges

Bryan King has urged Tottenham to re-sign Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon.

The ex-Spurs scout claims that Edwards reminds him of James Maddison.

It comes after a report in Football London (31 May) revealed that Spurs are interested in bringing the Sporting Lisbon ace back to North London.

Tottenham have a 35 per cent sell-on clause with Sporting for Edwards, who is valued at £15million, which means they could sign him for just £9.7million.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is a big fan of the 25-year-old.

“Spurs should definitely do it,” King said.

“To be honest, he probably shouldn’t have been sold in the first place.

“He is very similar to Maddison in the way he plays.

“If the club could get him for under £10million then that would be a good bit of business.”

Marcus Edwards would be a clever signing for Tottenham

This would represent a smart bit of business by the club.

Edwards could be a perfect squad option for Ange Postecoglou.

He would also solve some of the club’s homegrown issues while still providing plenty of quality for a cheap price.

It is therefore a low-risk high-reward move for Spurs.
