Tottenham transfer news: Rayan Cherki development emerges
Tottenham will need a methodical plan to help Lyon winger Rayan Cherki adapt to the rigours of the Premier League, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that his fitness record this season is positive as he’s not encountered any setbacks and has been available for the French side.
This comes after Fabrizio Romano reported that it would cost £19million for any club to secure the 21-year-old’s services while Spurs have been offered the chance to sign him. [Give Me Sport, 17 January]
Discussing the state of play with Cherki exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.
He said: “As Cherki is a 21-year-old moving to the Premier League for the first time, if he does join Spurs, the injury risk initially will be higher.
“To avoid that, they will need to have a detailed and methodical plan to get him up to speed and build up his minutes as he adapts to the rigours of the Premier League.
“He has been injury free this season so that’s always a positive.”
Rayan Cherki would be an important signing for Tottenham
The French attacker is capable of playing on either wing and as a number 10 and his versatility may be what Ange Postecoglou admires the most.
Cherki is also capable of playing deeper and keep things ticking in the middle of the park and he could arguably walk into the side’s best eleven given their fitness and form issues this season.

Whether or not Daniel Levy will be ready to sanction that kind of money for Cherki, remains to be seen.
