Tottenham told what to do to sign Albert Gudmundsson amid transfer update from Italy

Bryan King believes Tottenham could find it “difficult” to get a deal across the line for Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson.

The ex-Spurs scout feels that the Tottenham-linked forward is unlikely to prefer a switch to North London over a move to a top Italian team.

It comes after a report from Calcio Mercato (23 April) shared that Inter, Juventus and Tottenham are all interested in Genoa forward Gudmundsson, with the Premier League side hoping to use Djed Spence, who is on loan with Genoa, as part of a deal.

But King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t feel that this will make much difference, and shares what the club must do instead.

“If clubs like Inter Milan and Juventus are involved, Spurs will need more than Spence to complete that deal, they’ll need to at least match what those two clubs offer,” King said.

“It is hard to see Gudmundsson turning down Juventus or Inter, but it is positive to know that Spurs are competing with those clubs for players.

“He is already living in Italy, he seems settled, I think that would be a difficult deal to get done. Tottenham would need to make a big offer”

Could Tottenham lure Albert Gudmundsson to the Premier League to play under Ange Postecoglou?

Inter and Juventus are arguably Italy’s two biggest clubs, with the latter having just been crowned Serie A champions for the 2023/24 season.

If Gudmundsson is keen to stay in Italy, then he couldn’t have many better options.

However, should he wish to challenge himself by making a move to the Premier League, then Spurs could be the perfect destination for the Iceland international.

And for Spurs, Gudmundsson could be an exciting addition to Postecoglou’s squad, with the 26-year-old having found the back of the net 13 times in Italy’s top flight this season.

In other Tottenham news, one 18-year-old is set for a first-team role in North London next season.
