Tottenham told to get rid of Son Heung-min despite new deal on the cards

Thomas Frank has a decision on his hands surrounding the future of Son Heung-min at Tottenham.

The Danish head coach has had a busy summer to this point despite Mohammed Kudus from West Ham being his only signing.

This isn’t to say that transfer links haven’t been flying in at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, all while the future of the skipper hangs in the balance.

Now, an update on a potential new deal for the South Korea international has emerged as Frank looks to continue his pre-season activity in N17.

There is no getting away from the fact that the 33-year-old had a lower quality campaign last time out by his usual high standards.

With that being said, talks over a potential Tottenham exit have been continuous for Son in recent months despite no deal going through as of yet.

As a result, there is every chance that Frank could look to keep hold of the former Bayer Leverkusen man moving into the new campaign.

The forward could see a new contract offer be tabled in N17, although ex-Brentford and Leicester City boss Martin Allen believes the Spurs boss will want to cut ties rather than extend the skipper’s deal.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “Maybe they could offer Son a new deal.

“They have got to be looking to move on, they’ve got to be. He’s done a fantastic job for Tottenham as a player, and with those links to South Korea, it’s been good for Tottenham financially.

“However, I would say that it’s time to move these sorts of players on now and bring new ones in, which they are at the moment.

They’ve been very proactive, and they look like, under Thomas Frank, they’re going to be a different team.

Frank to call time on Son time at Tottenham

The attacking options moving into the new Premier League campaign is certainly exciting for the Lilywhites.

There will be high hopes for the likes of Kudus and Mathys Tel moving forward, something which may not bode well for the South Korean.

It will certainly be interesting to see where Son’s future lies under Frank and how the Dane sees the experienced pro fitting into his side in the upcoming season, that is for sure.
