Tottenham ‘to welcome outstanding Brentford man’ after brand-new agreement

Tottenham are expected to be almost unrecognisable once the summer ends.

Change has swept the halls of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with several other amendments expected to come.

The Lilywhites are set to appoint Thomas Frank as their new manager, and are preparing to welcome one more person from Brentford to North London after reaching a brand-new agreement.

Justin Cochrane to join Tottenham from Brentford with Frank

As reported by David Ornstein via X (12 June), Tottenham are expected to complete Frank’s appointment after an agreement was reached for the Dane to bring Justin Cochrane to Spurs as an assistant.

The deal was initially held up as Brentford wanted Cochrane to replace Frank. However, despite interest from the Bees and elsewhere, the 43-year-old has agreed to follow Frank to North London.

Cochrane previously worked as part of the academy setup before leaving Spurs in 2018.

Now poised for a return to N17, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Cochrane will be welcomed with open arms.

“I think the hold-up was quite simple,” Wenham said.

“It was to do with the backroom staff and who would be joining Frank at Tottenham. Frank wanted Cochrane to come with him to North London.

“Cochrane is someone I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with when he worked at Tottenham previously. He’s a very well-respected coach, and it was seen as a big blow when he left Tottenham originally.

“He will be welcomed back at the club. He is an outstanding young coach, and it is fantastic that Tottenham have got him as part of the deal to bring in Frank.”

Tottenham must announce Frank’s appointment

Spurs supporters will now be awaiting an announcement on Frank.

The time it took to decide on Ange Postecoglou, coupled with the hold-up in appointing his replacement, has seen the Lilywhites miss out on key signings.

It will be difficult to attract transfers as long as there are question marks around the manager. Potential signings will want to know who is in charge before committing to Spurs, while the new manager will want to be involved in transfers.

Therefore, it is in the best interest of Tottenham to confirm the appointment of Frank and announce themselves in the transfer window.
