Tottenham to sign Gibbs-White despite Nottingham Forest resistance – Exclusive

This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Morgan Gibbs-White could still become a Tottenham player this summer.

Thomas Frank will have been excited at the prospect of linking up with Gibbs-White at Tottenham until the transfer fell through because of a complaint made by Forest over an alleged illegal approach.

The deal was said to have been all agreed, with Spurs paying the release clause of the midfielder, though it quickly became apparent that things would have to be ironed out.

However, the deal may be back on the cards for Spurs, who would be getting a major new addition to their squad if so.

Forest face a sticky situation after Tottenham drama

Forest now have to decide whether they allow the transfer to proceed, or they risk keeping an unhappy player in their squad, whose sale could provide them with the means to strengthen elsewhere.

However, Paul Robinson believes the transfer will still go through, but it may need to be for a slightly higher price.

Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “It’s going to happen, it’s just going to drag on until the end of the window. When a player’s head gets turned like that, the deal is almost done.

“Forest had dug their heels in; they’re going to obviously try and get as much money as they can for him, but eventually it’ll go through.

“It’s one of those deals that Tottenham wants to happen. The player is obviously keen for it to happen. And it’s one of those where Forest are digging in to get as much as they can.

“The last thing that Forest are going to want to do is keep an unhappy player at the start of the season. So it’s a deal that should get done at some point, but it might cost Tottenham a little bit more than they want, and it might drag on a little bit longer than they want.

Frank still needs more at Tottenham

Mohammed Kudus is a great addition, and that is the calibre of signing that Spurs need to keep making to reach the next level.

Gibbs-White would fit the criteria, as would Rodrygo, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham recently.

With a few weeks left until the season starts, Tottenham still have time on their side, though they certainly need to accelerate their plans.
