Tottenham to receive cash ‘injection’ for new transfers after £3.75bn takeover

Tottenham may not be able to go on a spending spree should a proposed takeover go through, Dan Plumley has warned.

Meanwhile, Daniel Levy is holding out for a £3.75billion valuation of the club amid suggestions that the chairman’s unrealistic demands are the reason for derailing takeover negotiations so far.

Tottenham to invest in player recruitment after takeover

Plumley sees nothing wrong with the £3.75bn valuation and deems it fair for a club of Tottenham’s stature.

Assessing the possibilities and consequences of a takeover, the football finance expert explained that any money spent on top of the said figure would go into strengthening the squad as Spurs already have the necessary infrastructure in place.

With a modern stadium and related commercial partnerships already existing, all that the North London giants need is “injection” on the pitch.

“If that’s the valuation, I think that’s a good price, all things up. And I’ve said that before in terms of where that valuation should be at least in that ballpark”, Plumley exclusively told Tottenham News.

“If you look at what needs to be done next and what then happens, I think a lot of that goes into spending on the pitch in terms of the playing squad because the stadium is fully operational, it’s generating you a significant amount of matchday revenue, you’ve got all the tie-ins and other commercial partnerships linked to that, you’ve got the facilities and infrastructure.

Spurs takeover to propel them to glory

“What it now needs is injection on the pitch, so I think if the takeover was to go through, and that’s the kind of valuation, any spend over the top of that is very much likely to be on the playing side of things.

“We know you can’t just open up the blank chequebook, there’s another year of PSR in the Premier League, there are new UEFA squad cost rules that you need to adhere to and be mindful of, but that money you would anticipate, for sure, if there’s any money over the top linked to a takeover, it’s gonna be on the playing side of things.”

Tottenham continue to be the subject of ridicule for their lack of trophies, with their only hope of winning silverware this season lying in the UEFA Europa League.

However, fresh investment might just be what the Premier League club need to propel them to glory.
