Tottenham ‘to make Phillips transfer decision’ amid ‘phenomenal’ development
Tottenham will make a decision on Ashley Phillips in pre-season after recent developments.
The Spurs loanee spent the season on loan with Stoke City, helping the Potters to survive in the Championship.
Tottenham, like Stoke, have struggled in the league this season, with Ange Postecoglou’s side 17th in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (11 May).
Now, following several injuries to Tottenham’s backline this season, and with UEFA Champions League football a distant possibility, a decision will need to be made on Phillips.

Tottenham to decide on Phillips’ future
Phillips was a key player during his loan spell with Stoke City, making 39 appearances and even netting against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
His impressive form is likely to have caught the eyes of many back at Hotspur Way.

Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the Lilywhites will take a look at Phillips in pre-season, before deciding on what will happen next with the 19-year-old.
“It was a phenomenal loan for Phillips,” Wenham said.
“He made 39 appearances, played over three thousand minutes and was well loved by the Stoke City supporters. In the last month, they said he was comfortably their best player.
“Some even suggested that he single-handedly kept the club in the Championship with some of his heroic defensive performances. He even played through injury, according to their manager, which is fantastic.
“I think he’ll come back for pre-season, head on the tour of Asia, and Tottenham will make a decision on what his future holds. However, for a 19-year-old to go and dominate in a big physical side like Stoke, and become well-loved, tells me he’s got a bright future.”

Phillips should be part of Postecoglou’s squad next season
It is no secret that Tottenham has been all high risk, no reward in the Premier League this season, which at times is not helped by Postecoglou’s high-intensity approach.
Spurs have seen several injuries to the backline throughout the year, and there were even murmurings of an early return for Phillips last January to fill the void.
But now with the UEFA Europa League final on the horizon and the possibility of Champions League football, Tottenham are going to need all bodies available going into the new season.
With a Spurs side whose youth is set to dominate for years to come, the time has come to hand another promising youngster the keys.
