Tottenham ‘to hold internal investigation’ after Postecoglou comments

Ange Postecoglou appears to have lifted the mood at Tottenham, although some trouble is still brewing behind the scenes.

Tottenham reached the UEFA Europa League semi-final by beating Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday (17 April).

As a result, Postecoglou is expected to be afforded time by Daniel Levy.

After such a big win and performance, the mood is likely to have improved drastically at Hotspur Way, with Son Heung-min sending a message after missing the win in Germany. However, an internal investigation could still be launched after comments made by Postecoglou.

Postecoglou has a problem behind the scenes at Tottenham

Ahead of Spurs’ victory over Frankfurt, Postecoglou did make a strange comment about Tottenham.

In addition, even after the victory at Deutsche Bank Park, Postecoglou appeared to be asking for trouble with his post-match remarks. However, it is the 59-year-old’s previous reveal which could spark an internal investigation in North London.

Speaking ahead of the 4-2 Premier League defeat against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday (13 April), Postecoglou revealed that Tottenham have a leak behind the scenes.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King suggested this person could be removed from their position at Tottenham.

Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested that the club could launch an internal investigation to try to identify the culprit.

“That all started when news of Odobert’s injury was leaked,” Wenham said.

“Obviously, Postecoglou is frustrated about team news being leaked. It doesn’t help the team at all. Therefore, I understand his frustration. I also think he was under a lot of pressure when he was asked that question. If the question were asked now, would he react the same way? Probably not.

“Everyone at the club is now focused on reaching a European final. However, Tottenham might choose to investigate this leak, although it would be very difficult to identify the person. Plenty of people work at football clubs in lots of different capacities.

“As a result, it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Perhaps the club will leak false news to several different people to see what comes out, I’m not sure. However, it will be very difficult when you consider the number of people employed by Tottenham.”

Postecoglou needs everyone on the same page at Tottenham

For all of their difficulties this season, Spurs still have the chance to make this one of the greatest campaigns in the club’s history by lifting the Europa League.

Therefore, Postecoglou needs the support of all of his staff and players, and if that means identifying and removing the leak, then that is what needs to be done.
