Tottenham ‘to demand £60m+ for Udogie’ amid Manchester City transfer news

Destiny Udogie has had a difficult season, but Tottenham are still expected to demand more than £60million for the defender after a recent transfer update.

It has been an awful season in North London, with Ange Postecoglou expected to be sacked as a result.

Many of the players who impressed in the Australian’s debut year have regressed this year, including Udogie, who is no longer a guaranteed starter as a result of his inconsistent form and the rise of Djed Spence.

However, it looks as though his exit from Tottenham would still be an expensive one should it happen this summer as a Manchester City transfer update emerges.

Manchester City want to sign Udogie from Tottenham

As reported by Fabrizio Romano (10 April), Manchester City have added Udogie to their shortlist of targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola’s side recognise that a deal would be difficult to agree with the Lilywhites. However, their interest is concrete.

Tottenham could already have a replacement for Udogie lined up. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t want the Italy international to be sold and expects a fee of more than £60m to be demanded for the 22-year-old’s signature.

“I think fans are quick to remember the Udogie from this season,” Wenham said.

“However, last season, he was in many people’s Premier League Team of the Year. He was getting goals, and I had lots of friends of mine who support other clubs raving about him to me.

“For whatever reason, this season has been a disaster. However, I would not be looking to sell Udogie. I think that under a different manager, he could establish himself. Therefore, there are plenty of players I would sell before him.

“He’s at the right age; he’s got Premier League experience and a contract until 20230. I’ve seen some people putting ridiculously low values on him. I think Tottenham would demand north of £60million, and even then, I wouldn’t sell him.”

Tottenham should not sell Udogie to Manchester City

Udogie hasn’t had his finest season for Tottenham. However, it is difficult to pick a player who has.

The left-back is still in his early twenties and has plenty of potential. Therefore, he shouldn’t be sold this summer, and Spurs must instead look to build around him with a new manager should Postecoglou be sacked.
