Tottenham ‘to consider Jonathan David’ amid £28m+ transfer news
Tottenham could be on the lookout for a new striker this summer, and Jonathan David is expected to be considered after £28million-plus transfer news.
It looks as though it could be a summer of change at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Ange Postecoglou at risk of being sacked by Daniel Levy.
The Australian is thought to have lost the Tottenham dressing room and could, therefore, be on his way out of Spurs. However, he might not be the only person headed through the Tottenham exit door.
Several players are also facing uncertain futures, with Levy potentially set to sanction a cut-price Richarlison transfer. As a result, Spurs could be on the lookout for a new striker, with Lille’s David emerging as an option.

Tottenham discover cost of David transfer
David’s contract with Lille expires at the end of the season, which means the Canadian, who has long been linked to Tottenham, will be a free agent.
However, that doesn’t mean the 25-year-old will come cheap.
Lille | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Jonathan David | 226 | 107 | 28 |
As reported by Sacha Tavolieri (27 March), David will demand an annual salary of £7.5million along with a signing bonus of £12.5million which doesn’t include the commission fees of around £8.3million, which brings the total package to £28.3million.
Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – isn’t sure a transfer is likely, although Spurs are expected to keep David under consideration.
“I think this is a player who Tottenham will consider,” Wenham said.
“However, historically speaking, I don’t remember too many times that Spurs have paid big commission fees; it just isn’t the way the club seem to operate.
“Therefore, if you were to ask me do I think Tottenham will end up signing David, I would probably say no. I think there will be other strikers who are of greater interest. However, whether they will be attainable, I’m not so sure.
“We also don’t yet know what competitions Tottenham will be in next season and whether or not they can offer any European football, so we will just have to wait and see.”

Tottenham need to find a replacement for Richarlison
David is an experienced striker, who is a good age and possesses a strong pedigree in Europe. Therefore, £28.3m seems like fair value.
However, if Tottenham aren’t willing to pay that, they will need to find another striker to replace Richarlison, who looks likely to exit North London.
