Tottenham ‘to compete with Arsenal’ for Viktor Gyökeres amid £50m+ transfer news
Tottenham are expected to compete with Arsenal to sign Viktor Gyökeres after a recent Sporting Lisbon exit update.
Spurs haven’t exactly competed with their North London rivals on the pitch in recent years.
Arsenal are guaranteed to finish second in the Premier League this season, while Ange Postecoglou’s side are all the way down in 17th, with Mikel Arteta recently aiming a dig at Spurs.
However, it doesn’t look as though that will stop the Lilywhites from pushing to sign Gyökeres ahead of the Gunners.

Sporting Lisbon agree to sell Gyökeres for £54.7million
As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (18 May), Sporting have agreed with Gyökeres that the Swede can leave the Portuguese club for £54.7m.
Discussions are continuing with several top clubs in Europe.

Arsenal have been widely linked with a move for Gyökeres. However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has backed the Lilywhites to throw their hat into the ring.
“I’ve seen Gyökeres’ name brandished around with Manchester United and Arsenal,” King said.
“I think Tottenham could compete with Arsenal for a player such as this. It would be surprising if he doesn’t end up at Manchester United, given his connection with Ruben Amorim.
“This is a player who has scored a lot of goals in Portugal and England. Therefore, if Tottenham want to sign him, they will face serious competition.”
Tottenham could struggle to sign Gyökeres
Arsenal will have UEFA Champions League football to offer next season.
Tottenham could, of course, be competing in Europe’s elite competition as well, provided they get past Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday (21 May).
However, even so, with all the chaos that has surrounded Tottenham this season, a move to the Lilywhites might be a hard sell, especially as Arsenal look positioned to once again compete for the Premier League next season.
