Tottenham ‘to appoint Oliver Glasner’ after Fabrizio Romano news

Oliver Glasner could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham after a recent Fabrizio Romano update.

Postecoglou still has a chance to make history with Tottenham by winning the UEFA Europa League.

Spurs are set to host Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May) in the first leg of the two clubs’ semi-final showdown.

However, even if Postecoglou ends the 17-year wait for a trophy in North London, the Australian is still expected to leave Tottenham, and a recent Romano update suggests Glasner could be the man to replace him.

Tottenham want to sign Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace

Cristian Romero appears set to leave Tottenham this summer.

As a result, a new centre-back will be needed, and according to Romano (26 April), Tottenham remain keen on signing Crystal Palace captain Guéhi.

Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this means a move for Glasner could also be in the works.

“This news for me suggests Romero is likely to leave,” Wenham said.

“However, we also don’t have an update on Ben Davies’ contract. Therefore, it is likely we will need a new centre-back in the summer. However, this also suggests Tottenham are looking at Glasner to replace Postecoglou.

“Palace’s performance against Villa in the FA Cup was fantastic. They had a difficult start to the season, but Glasner has them in a really good place now. Therefore, of the list of managers that have been linked with Tottenham, I would put Glasner above the majority of them.”

Tottenham could appoint Glasner and sign Guéhi

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, it is clear that Spurs need to make a change.

And if Daniel Levy could appoint Glasner while also signing Guéhi in the same summer, that would be a huge boost after a disappointing Premier League campaign.

However, a decision first needs to be made on Postecoglou.
