Tottenham ‘to accept £50m James Maddison bid’ as transfer news emerges

Ange Postecoglou isn’t the only person facing an uncertain future at Tottenham, with a summer exit for James Maddison also on the cards.

Spurs have nothing left to play for in the Premier League, with all eyes on the UEFA Europa League and the first leg of the Lilywhites’ semi-final against Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May).

Even if Spurs were to end their 17-year trophy drought and lift the Europa League in May, Postecoglou could still leave.

However, that might not be the only high-profile departure in North London this summer, with Maddison potentially set to follow the 59-year-old out the exit door.

Maddison faces an uncertain future at Tottenham

Maddison hasn’t exactly been settled at Tottenham this season, with a report from The Boy Hotspur (15 April) claiming that the Spurs playmaker has clashed with Postecoglou behind the scenes.

As a result, the Englishman could pack his bags this summer.

According to Graeme Bailey [via GiveMeSport], Maddison’s future at Tottenham is not certain, with a couple of Premier League clubs interested in the midfielder.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Daniel Levy would want at least £50million to sell Maddison.

“Spurs paid around £40million for Maddison,” King said.

“Therefore, they will want at least £50m. I would say anywhere between £50-60million would be accepted. Maddison has had some positive moments at Tottenham and got himself into the England team.

“However, he has also lost his place in the England team due to his inconsistency.”

Maddison deserves another chance at Tottenham

It has been a terrible season for Tottenham, and Maddison has struggled at times.

However, Spurs shouldn’t be in any rush to move on the 28-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract at Tottenham.

Should the Lilywhites find some form next season, Maddison could show signs of improvement, as he is still arguably one of the more talented players at Hotspur Way. Therefore, he deserves another chance to prove this.
