Tottenham tipped to raid Nottingham Forest to sign Morgan Gibbs-White after financial development

Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes Daniel Levy should use his “common sense” and sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest amid the club’s financial struggles.

As per talkSPORT (21 March), Spurs and West Ham are both interested in Gibbs-White, with the North London side already boasting a positive relationship with the midfielder’s current club after the signing of Brennan Johnson last summer.

Forest were recently deducted four points for a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) for the period ending Season 2022/23 (via Premier League, 18 March).

To avoid being hit with further penalties Nuno Espirito Santo’s side might be forced to sell some key players this summer, with Gibbs-White arguably their most valuable asset.

In light of this news, King has backed Spurs to provide Gibbs-White with an escape route from Forest.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “If Nottingham Forest do end up in the Championship, Gibbs-White moving to Tottenham would be a good solution for the club and player.

“He would be moving to a club with the possibility of playing Champions League football.

“It would be common sense for Daniel Levy to take advantage of Forest’s struggles, these kinds of things have happened as long as the Premier League has existed.

“If the club are smart, they get in early and get a price agreed. It is nothing new, it is the way football has always been run.”

Could Morgan Gibbs-White move from Nottingham Forest to Tottenham to play under Ange Postecoglou?

It appears as if this wouldn’t be too difficult of a move for Levy to get across the line.

Johnson was arguably an even more important player for Forest last summer when Tottenham signed him, and the Nottingham-based club find themselves in much more financial trouble this time around, which could make them even more desperate to sell.

This could play right into Levy’s hands, with the chairman perhaps set to agree to a cut-price deal for a young, English player who could suit Ange Postecoglou’s style of play down to a tee.

His previous relationship with Johnson could also prove effective for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if the two were to reunite in North London.
