Tottenham tipped for extensive transfer battle for Leeds United wonderkid Archie Gray

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Paul Robinson believes Tottenham will be part of a “big queue” in their pursuit of Leeds United teenager Archie Gray because of the quality the youngster has already shown.

The Daily Mail reported on 8 January that Spurs were on the trail of the 17-year-old midfielder, having previously reported a £40million bid being on the cards from Liverpool in 2024 (10 November).

Former Spurs and England keeper Robinson isn’t surprised at all that top clubs are chasing the Leeds academy product and expects there to be extensive speculation about where he might land.

Having only made his first-team debut at Elland Road at the beginning of the season Gray has started all but four of the Championship side’s matches in all competitions this term to generate high-level transfer interest already.

And now Robinson has suggested a heated race for his services could be on the cards in the summer window.

“He’s a top quality player, he’s already proven that at such a young age in the Championship”, he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“The speculation is going to be rife about him going to top clubs, whether it be Tottenham or another top four club in the Premier League, or around Europe, because he’s such a good player.

“He’s got such a bright future in the game whether it be at club level or international level, he’s proven that in the Championship this season.

“Tottenham, certainly, if they come knocking in the summer, they’ll be in a big line, believe me.”

In other Tottenham news, the club could sign a pair of wonderkids as they have a long history of landing those transfers.
