Tottenham: Timo Werner transfer admission emerges after Sky Sports update on Tuesday
John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes signing Timo Werner could be a “bargain” for Tottenham.
Werner is currently on loan at Spurs from RB Leipzig and has scored twice and provided two assists in the Premier League since arriving in January.
As per Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (19 March), the 27-year-old is happy in North London and would like to commit his long-term future to Spurs.
Daniel Levy must decide on whether or not to sign Werner before the European Championships get underway, with the German likely to leave RB Leipzig this summer regardless of Levy’s decision.
Tottenham can make the forward’s stay permanent for £14.5million, and Wenham believes this could prove to be good value for money.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham, the founder of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, said: “Werner is contributing and at the price which is being reported, he could prove to be a bit of a bargain.
“If you look at the way the market is at the moment, £14.5million for a player who can come off the bench, play in all three forward positions and has rapid pace, that is not a bad deal.
“Tottenham are in no rush to make a decision and probably won’t decide whether or not to sign Werner permanently until the end of the season, but they definitely have something to think about, especially if he keeps scoring.
“It also seems like he is well-liked around the club, so Tottenham have a decision to make here.”
Will Timo Werner sign permanently for Tottenham this summer?
If Werner can finish the season strong, there is no reason why his desire to become a permanent Tottenham player can’t be fulfilled.
It is clear that Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the player with the Australian often including him either as a starter or at least from the bench.
Werner must now convince those higher up at Tottenham that he is worth the fee, which is relatively low considering the prices of players in the current market.

With Werner keen to stay, it is now in his hands to make that happen.
In other Tottenham news, Wenham believes that one 20-year-old Spurs player is set for a big future in North London.
