Tottenham target Lloyd Kelly ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ ahead of January transfer window – Expert

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly “ticks a lot of boxes” for Tottenham and a January transfer would be a “no-brainer” for the north London club.

Kelly was previously linked with a move to Spurs when Ange Postecoglou’s side failed with a deadline-day bid at the end of the summer transfer window.

As per The Athletic (1 September), Tottenham saw an offer of £20million rejected by the Cherries as the amount offered did not meet the South Coast club’s valuation.

As per recent reports Spurs’ interest has not gone away, and although Football London have suggested that a hamstring injury suffered by the 24-year-old could put Tottenham off from a move (1 December), Wenham believes a deal still makes a lot of sense.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “It is a signing which would make sense, he ticks a lot of boxes.

“He’s got Premier League experience, he has captained Bournemouth in the past, he’s homegrown, can play as both a left back and a centre back, quick and a good age, he is exactly what we’re looking for.

“It would be an absolute no-brainer to make a move.

“He’s also represented by CAA base whom Tottenham have a phenomenal relationship with, most of the club’s star players and academy players are represented by them, so if Tottenham really want to get a deal done for Kelly, I’m sure it can be done.

“There are really no excuses, we should be getting that done in the first week of January so we can get him involved straightaway because there will be plenty of opportunities for him to play football.”

In other Tottenham news, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes it is “last chance saloon” for one star at the club.
