Tottenham star ‘to never play for Spurs again’ after latest injury reveal

Tottenham have several players currently sidelined by injury, and one of them is expected to have played his final game for the Lilywhites.

It is no secret that injuries have decimated Ange Postecoglou’s side this season.

For many, injuries are simply a cheap excuse to deflect from a manager’s poor tactical approach and with Tottenham 17th in the Premier League, Postecoglou may reflect this.

However, in attack, Spurs have been left particularly vulnerable with Son Heung-min and Richarlison just returning from injury, and with a list as long as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, something must change this summer.

Timo Werner has no future at Tottenham

Postecoglou is currently without Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall, while Dane Scarlett has undergone an operation.

However, the Australian is also missing Werner, who is perhaps a forgotten man in North London.

Werner has played just 946 minutes for Tottenham this season in what has been another disappointing year for the forward on loan from RB Leipzig.

Postecoglou recently confirmed that Werner remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t believe the German will ever play for Spurs again.

“I don’t see Werner featuring again this season,” Wenham said.

“He isn’t even registered for the Europa League final, and he’s not going to play against Brighton on the last day of the season.

“I don’t see a future for Werner at Tottenham at all, and I imagine he will already be packing his bags.”

Tottenham should not extend Werner’s loan

There is a common saying that only a fool carries out the same action twice expecting a different outcome, and Werner’s time at Tottenham fits the bill.

In fact, the 29-year-old’s inconsistent finishing and unreliability arguably did not warrant the initial loan extension to start with.

Despite his injuries this season, Werner has still made 21 appearances and has only contributed to 4 goals during that time. It is one thing not to be available when your team needs you most, it is another to be of little assistance while on the pitch.

Thus, with Werner well past his glory days, and Spurs looking towards a new season and potential UEFA Champions League football, the North London club would be wise not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
