Tottenham: Spurs and Ange Postecoglou backed to win race for ‘exciting’ Roony Bardghji

Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King has backed Spurs to continue their progress of signing the most “exciting” young talent around Europe by winning the race for Roony Bardghji’s signature.

Spurs have recently completed the signings of Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split as well as Lucas Bergvall from Djurgårdens IF.

It looks as if the North London side are interested in adding more young talent from across Europe to their ranks, with HITC reporting (5 March) that Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs pushing hardest to sign FC Copenhagen’s Bardghji, who is valued at £20million.

Tottenham News first revealed back in January (13 January) that Spurs were interested in a move for the 18-year-old.

In light of this news, King sees no reason why Ange Postecoglou’s side can’t lure Bardghji to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of their competition, which includes the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Manchester United.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “It would be interesting to see Bardghji join Tottenham and work alongside Lucas Bergvall and Luka Vuskovic.

“That would mean Spurs have signed supposedly the best young players from Croatia, Sweden and Denmark. It would then be up to Postecoglou to see where he would fit these players in and how he would use them.

“It is always exciting when clubs are following young players in Europe, especially young players who have got options. Spurs won the races for Bergvall and Vuskovic, so it will be interesting to see if they can beat out the competition for Bardghji, and why not?

“It looks like the club are trying to integrate the best young European players with their own young players. That is a positive transfer model because you will never lose money on these young players, if they struggle to perform you will always be able to get your money back, that is for sure.”

Could Roony Bardghji end up playing under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

If Spurs were to sign Bardghji, he would arguably be an even more exciting signing than both Bergvall and Vuskovic.

While both of those players are clearly talented, Bardghji has already demonstrated his talent on the biggest stage of them all, the UEFA Champions League.

The winger made four appearances for FC Copenhagen during their run in the competition this season, scoring for the Danish side in a memorable 4-3 victory over Manchester United (8 November).

As previously revealed by Fabrizio Romano via his YouTube channel (28 February), Bardghji has no interest in signing a new contract in Copenhagen and will likely be on the move this summer.

Postecoglou will be keen for Spurs to act on their interest, with Bardghji certainly the right profile of player for the Australian.

With Bardghji having previously suggested during an interview with Sportbladet (via Metro, 7 February) that it is “fun to think about” playing at Spurs, the club can certainly use this to their advantage in any negotiations.
