Tottenham: Omar Marmoush transfer update emerges at Spurs, he’s learning from Mohamed Salah
Tottenham are unlikely to make a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush as he would not improve the starting XI, Paul Robinson has said.
It was reported by TeamTalk (14 March) that the Egyptian forward, who says he has been learning on and off the pitch from Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah (Ahram Online), has been been eyed by Spurs for a summer transfer.
The report states that Marmoush, who is also said to be on Liverpool’s radar, could be available for around £25.6million.
However, Robinson says Marmoush – who has 10 Bundesliga goals in 21 appearances this season – would not be a better option than captain Son Heung-min or Richarlison up top.
“I mean you’re paying that type of money for a player who wouldn’t be coming straight into your starting XI,” Robinson told Tottenham News.
“You compare him to Son, you compare him to Richarlison, I would find it hard to believe that Tottenham would look to bring in someone of that level into their squad when they’re already strong in that area.
“For me, for Tottenham to progress from where they are this season into the Champions League places, you’re going to have to make your squad better and if you put him into that squad now he wouldn’t play ahead of what you’ve got, so to pay that type of money for a squad player – I mean he’s got potential he’s scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga, he’s a decent looking player, but he wouldn’t come into the starting XI.
“If Tottenham are looking to progress next year and with Fabio Paratici there in the background, and the type of players the manager wants you would want to better the squad.
“I think they’ve got a really strong squad although I think the squad is light in certain areas but if you’re going to replace like-for-like position wise you go for better than what you’ve got.
“Richarlison for me has done well this season, Sonny’s done excellently well again as a number nine he just looks so good in front of goal.
“And if you are going to sign a striker of the ilk of Harry Kane or a number nine you’re going to play there they have to better than Son or Richarlison.”
Tottenham eye move for Frankfurt ace Omar Marmoush
Frankfurt have had a real win with this one, given they managed to bring Marmoush in on a free transfer from Wolfsburg and could now make a significant profit.
Whether that profit comes from Tottenham or not remains to be seen and you feel Spurs would only target a real elite-level striker in the summer, one who could fill the void left by Harry Kane last summer.

This season the burden has been shared around the forward options to get the goals, with captain Son doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
Unless Marmoush could improve the starting XI then it is hard to imagine Spurs sanctioning a move for him, even if they do qualify for the Champions League.
