Tottenham set to offer ‘fantastic’ Yago Santiago new contract before loan deal – Spurs Insider

John Wenham believes Tottenham will reward Yago Santiago with a new contract before sending him out on loan next season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has praised Santiago for the “fantastic” season he is having.

Spurs’ Under-21 forward has been in fine form as of late and the club will need to make a decision soon on his future with his contract set to enter its final year in June.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that Santiago has done enough to earn a new deal in North London.

“He’s made some solid progress over the past 18 months, and I was hoping that he would go out on loan in January,” Wenham said.

“That didn’t happen, and I think the plan now will be to reward him with a new three-year contract before sending him out on loan next season.

“If it were up to me, he would go out to League One first, and then if he is doing well, send him on loan to the Championship for the second half of the season.

“I think this would be a good move for Santiago and a just reward after the fantastic season he has had this year.”

Yago Santiago deserves a first-team opportunity at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou

Santiago has been one of the Tottenham Under-21s’ most impressive players this season.

Wayne Burnett’s side look set to finish top of the Premier League 2 before the competition enters the play-off phase next month, and Santiago has been a big part of that.
