Tottenham ‘set for extra steps’ as move made to sign Giovanni Leoni
Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle are among a host of Premier League clubs linked with Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni.
Injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has assessed the Italian’s age and fitness issues ahead of a potential transfer this summer.
The 18-year-old made 17 league appearances last season, with most of them coming in the second half of the campaign.

Leoni’s injury at the end of last season may cause issues
Spurs may look at the teenager’s injury at the end of the season and see if there are any persisting issues with it, according to Dr Brar.

Discussing the state of play with Leoni exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.
“Spurs may take a closer look at the injury that ended his 2024/25 season to see how he is progressing and if there are any outlier issues with it“, he said.
“At his age, given the lack of senior experience, it may also take him longer to adapt to life in the Premier League.
“I do not see him being a regular starter for the first few months and this seems to be more of a long-term pursuit.”

Tottenham must still consider signing Leoni
Leoni is a promising long-term option for Tottenham due to his composure, defensive prowess and versatility.
Standing at 6ft 5in, he excels in aerial duels and playing out from the back, fitting Spurs’ need for a modern defender.
His 17 Serie A appearances last season showcase his readiness for high-level competition, while his potential aligns with the North London club’s strategy of nurturing young talent.
With uncertainties surrounding Cristian Romero’s future and Radu Dragusin’s injury, Leoni offers depth and future value.
Tottenham must act swiftly amid competition from other top-flight clubs in order to snap up his services.
