Tottenham ready ‘far greater’ Gibbs-White financial package – Exclusive

Tottenham are not prepared to throw in the towel for Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

Daniel Levy believed Gibbs-White’s transfer to Hotspur Way was all but official before Nottingham Forest stomped on the brakes

The Reds are blocking Spurs’ pursuit of their player. According to Forest, they did not permit Tottenham to converse with the midfielder and have questioned their knowledge of his £60million release clause.

But Levy is no quitter and will be keen to get a deal across the line.

Tottenham ‘offering Gibbs-White far more money than Forest’

Gibbs-White featured in Forest’s goalless draw against Monaco on Saturday (19 July).

This has cast doubt among Spurs supporters on whether the 25-year-old’s transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is still feasible.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that he is growing tired of the back and forth between the two clubs, and expects Spurs to seal the deal.

“I can imagine Gibbs-White is getting quite frustrated,” Wenham said.

“A move to Tottenham is not only a ginormous move in terms of a step up and the size of the club, but also, I’m sure the financial package on offer is far greater, the opportunity to play UEFA Champions League, and the opportunity to really strengthen his position in the England squad.

“It’s all there for him, and you can see why he would want to make the move. I see why Tottenham would want to sign the player. I think he’s an outstanding midfielder.

“Tottenham are signing him really in his peak time in the next three, four or five years. So I really hope this does get over the line, and I think it will get over the line when common sense prevails.”

Thomas Frank already has a plan for Gibbs-White

Tottenham’s 2-0 victory against Reading on Saturday (19 July) made it clear that Thomas Frank has a plan for Gibbs-White.

Alfie Devine started the match for the Dane behind Dominic Solanke and was tasked with facilitating their creative play. Throughout the game, Devine often dropped deep to progress the ball while offering that line-breaking pass to send Solanke in behind.

Gibbs-White would likely step into this role as Spurs’ main creative outlet if he arrives this summer.

Therefore, with his place in Frank’s squad already planned out, there is more reason to believe that he will land at Hotspur Way in due course.
