Tottenham ‘ready £100m-plus transfer blitz’ before February deadline – Expert
Tottenham could easily spend over £100million on new transfers before the upcoming 3 February deadline, Dan Plumley says.
Spurs are said to be looking at several new signings as injuries rip through their squad, with a new forward said to be the priority (Lyall Thomas).
Plumley, a football finance expert, admits that Spurs have always been a club that can spend willingly, but the question remains if Daniel Levy actually will.
“Yes, ultimately,” he exclusively told Tottenham News when asked if they can spend over £100m over the next week.
“Spurs are one of those clubs that can spend if they want to, and we’ve always said that.
“They have made losses in recent years, but some of that is wrapped up in the stadium as well and they’ve never been anywhere near the radar of PSR, certainly from what we’ve seen in the media with that.

“The wage costs have always been around 50 per cent of overall revenue, sometimes a little bit lower so they look like a club that can spend, but the question has always been, will they?
“That has played out as the scenario over the years but in terms of answering the question of can they spend, you would always look at Spurs as a club that can spend, but as you say, the pressure situation there will dictate a lot of that as well.”

Whether Ange Postecoglou will be in charge of any new signings remains to be seen, with the Australian said to be on the brink of the sack after the defeat against Leicester (The Sun).
Levy now has choices to make, back Postecoglou with new signings or do the exact same for a new manager, this squad simply isn’t good enough.
