Tottenham reach ‘unusual’ contract agreement with highly rated prospect

Tottenham are continuing to agree deals with some of the most exciting young talent around.

The prospect of change has featured at Tottenham for several seasons, but since the UEFA Europa League final (21 May), it seems change is already here, and it is only going to get bigger.

The first step was winning silverware, and the next is to build on their success by adding several players to an already talented team.

And it already seems that Spurs have started on that second step by agreeing on a contract with an exciting player that will serve them for years to come.

Tottenham take a chance on Ashiah Haughton

The Tottenham academy has produced some exciting players in the past, including current England captain Harry Kane.

And Spurs will be hoping to have created another star with upcoming academy talent Haughton.

The forward has been scoring for fun at the academy and already has over 400 goals for Spurs as he looks to move up into the Under-15s next year.

According to Lilywhite Rose via X (29 May), Haughton has been offered and signed a four-year scholarship at Tottenham.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the London club must value the youngster highly to offer such a long scholarship.

“This is a really unusual situation,” Wenham said.

“Tottenham obviously value Haughton highly and predict that he is going to go to the top very fast if they’re offering him a four-year scholarship at such a young age.

“There is no guarantee how a player of that age will develop. However, this clearly proves that Tottenham value him and want to keep him around long-term, which is exciting for Haughton.”

Spurs continue to invest in their youth

While this season was unpredictable, the increased number of matches and influx of injuries have allowed Spurs’ young talents to shine.

Damola Ajayi and Callum Olusesi both received winners’ medals as the Lilywhites won the Europa League, with the former on the bench in Bilbao.

Meanwhile, Wilson Odobert started and scored twice in the second leg of Tottenham’s Europa League Round of 16 clash against AZ Alkmaar at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (13 March).

Therefore, with everything to play for next season, the future talents of North London have the opportunity to seize the limelight once again.
