Tottenham punishment: Ange Postecoglou set for fine after FA development

Ange Postecoglou is likely to be fined by the FA after his recent Tottenham comments, Dan Plumley has said.

The Australian manager is set to be probed by the FA after saying multiple times if things were “equal” after the 2-1 defeat against Newcastle recently (The Mirror).

Plumley, a football finance expert admitted that hefty fines are more likely than bans, with the governing bodies trying to create deterrents to avoid this type of conflict in the future.

“I would say so,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“You’re looking at past cases and similar comparisons.

We know they are clamping down on this more and more lately to make it more of a deterrent, but it’s unlikely that ever stops it, players and managers will always say things in the heat of the moment.

I think, as it stands, fines are more likely these days as the natural consequence of that.”

Postecoglou isn’t a manager who minces his words, and he could easily cover this up potentially by using the current injury crisis as an explanation.

With the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies injured at the back, Archie Gray has been forced to step up alongside Radu Dragusin for weeks now.

Spurs leave Premier League action behind with a mouth-watering FA Cup tie at Tamworth on Sunday (12 January), with more drama likely to follow in North London.

Postecoglou has gone under-the-radar since his comments, but punishment could now follow.
